Visitors flock to Lourmarin from far and wide to take advantage of the wide range of art and craft shops and the many cafes and restaurants. Now home to "A Year in Provence" author Peter Mayle, this village has a fabulous market every Friday. It's also ideally located for visiting the many historic 'perched villages' of the Luberon, plus the historic town of Aix-en-Provence. These cafes are literally almost outside the house but because of the design and orientation of the property you run little risk of being disturbed.

The delightful sitting-room features a lovely stone fireplace and cool stone floors. There is a pretty wrought iron spiral staircase leading to the master bedroom and views onto the charming terrace. A large bookcase houses a wide variety of books and interesting antique furniture and contemporary art complete the sophisticated look.

TV and film fans will be thrilled to find a separate viewing room with a large flat-screen television and an extensive collection of DVD's. Steps off this room lead up to a charming covered seating area ideal for those wishing to be outside yet sheltered from the hot Provencal sun.

The kitchen has been carefully planned and features pine cupboards with black stone worktops. There is a large range-style cooker, a double sink and a huge stainless steel fridge/freezer which also contains a wine cooler. The red walls set everything off to perfection and the pine table with seating for 6 is a lovely place for indoor dining having, as it does, glorious views over the garden and to the Luberon beyond. For outdoor dining there is a small but perfectly formed , sheltered terrace with seating for 6.

It's unusual to find a property with a pool in such a central village location. This pool is 10 x 2 meters and features a counter-current so is perfect for serious swimmers wanting to work up an appetite before sampling some of the excellent nearby restaurants. There are 4 sunloungers and a babercue making the garden a pretty haven for sundowners or simply relaxing on days when sightseeing seems just too much effort!
