The inviting 8 x 5 metre swimming pool, going from 1.20 to 1.80 metres deep is a delight. There are plenty of sun loungers for your comfort, and an outdoor shower for your convenience. The lawned area has been seeded and weeded, so all ready to go. The whole area benefits from exterior lighting so you can continue to enjoy everything the property has to offer late into the night. The pool is alarmed for the protection of children.

Twelve years in its creation, l'Oliveraie has been finished to an very high standard. Only natural materials have been used to construct and finish the house. Dry stone walls abound. Terra cotta tiles cover the entire ground floor.

This lovely, large bedroom is for two people, although three kids would no doubt love it! The occupants of this room share the other wash rooms.

The ground floor double bedroom.

The solid wood beamed ceilings are 3.2 metres high giving an open, airy feel. The interior is refreshingly cool even in the full heat of the day. As you would expect, the kitchen is fully equipped with dish washer, microwave etc. There is also a washing machine at the property.

The first floor double bedroom, with an en-suite shower room.

On the ground floor you have this Italian style open shower (easily big enough for two) which is finished in marble, giving a truly mediterranean feel to the room.

l'Oliveraie sits in a private valley, 3 hectares in size. The large stone house is set back within the valley and is overlooked by nothing but evergreen hooded slopes. The privacy created by this setting is complete, and rivals the tranquility achieved by the most efficient magnates of Provence. l'Oliveraie is not just a romantic house but a genuine slice of the Provencal landscape over which you have sole reign. Your privacy is assured. This natural phenomenon provides a micro-climate which has permitted the owner to plant exotic trees such as eucalyptus, peach, palm, orange & lemon.

The owner makes available 4 mountain bikes for guests use, which he keeps well mainatained.

There is a table-tennis table and a dedicated petanque area.

The village of Le Barroux is 15 minutes by foot, and the neighbouring village of Caromb, which has excellent local commerce, is 5 minutes by car. For the energetic, Caromb is a 30 minutes walk through breathtaking unspolied Provencal countryside.

Just 2 minutes from the house you will find an American style diner that sells a great range of beers as well as the usual quick food.

The evening light gives a soft feel to this beautiful property, reminding us that it's time for an apéritif.

The owner has added these cocanut wood chalets to the garden which provide both shade from the Provencal sun and comfort, making this the perfect place to relax and read, or enjoy an after lunch siesta. The owner can also organise a local masseuse to visit l'Oliveraie to give a professional massage.

l'Oliveraie is so called because organic olive oil is produced from the olive trees dotted all over the grounds. The oil is gorgeous, and on sale at the property.

For the more energetic walker, it is possible to climb up into the woodland hills and follow the paths until you arrive at the Lac du Paty, which is approximately a 40 minute ramble (assuming you don't get lost)!

If you prefer cycling you will be spoilt for choice, regardless of your cycling standard. Certainly the Mont Ventoux is just 15 minutes away if you fancy that challenge, but equally there are routes close to l'Oliveraie which all the family can enjoy, stopping off at one of the beautiful, friendly villages for an ice cream or an enjoyable wine tasting session.

The majestic chateau du Barroux dominates the pretty village of Le Barroux. This photograph was taken from
vines not far from l'Oliveraie, looking back at the village.
