This stunning manor house, which looks particularly spectacular when floodlit by night, dates back to the early 18th century. It was originally built by Monks of the Carthusian Order and at the time of the French Revolution was owned by the Knights of the Order of Malta. These origins go some way to explaining both the grandeur and the peace and tranquility of the property.

Ancient plane trees line the mile long driveway and are a major feature of the garden, providing an architectural elegance, shade and an ever-changing aspect to the garden with each season. This truly is the setting in which, and from which, to experience the feel of authentic and historic Provence.

There are five bedrooms in the main house, all with en-suite bathrooms. The Master Bedroom, above, is spacious, light and airy, under an antique beamed ceiling, and you can lie in the King size bed and look at the lovely garden views. There is a large fireplace with a carved wooden mantel, a safe and an en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, wc and two basins. There are a further two bedrooms in a separate Guest House, which also has a small kitchen for those wanting to cater for themselves separately or have complete privacy.

In the Guest House there is a small double room at ground floor level, which gives direct and easy access to the swimming pool. There is a separate wc and shower and a small kitchen with table and chairs for breakfast or casual eating. There is a further double bedroom at first floor level with enchanting views plus an en-suite shower room, basin and wc.

The huge 15 x 7.5 metre swimming-pool is fenced as well as being heated in the cooler months. There are abundant loungers and parasols and this is the perfect place to unwind from busy city life. Adjacent to the pool is a shaded picnic area for children. The on-site Concierge/Guest Manager is available to organise picnic food as well as guided tours, activities or special events, either at the Domaine or elsewhere.

The bedrooms in the main house are each designed around a separate theme - Villette, Nautical, Indian, Heritage and Art Deco, so each has a unique feel and personality. All are very spacious and the lovely long windows give glorious views over the garden and the fields beyond. Since the bedrooms are so large, it is easy for each guest to feel totally private and the rooms are so beautifully furnished that they provide a total retreat for anyone wishing to relax in solitude. Despite housing large parties, the Domaine is so well constructed and the walls so thick that noise is absolutely not an issue.

Great attention to detail has been made in all the rooms so that the choice of furnishing, objets d'art and family souvenirs combine to create an elegant and interesting ambience.

The magnificent Domaine is set in over 250 acres of land and has glorious views of the surrounding fields of wheat, corn, sunflowers, commercial crops and the many dykes which have prevented the property from flooding down the centuries. Such a large estate means there are ample opportunities for walking, jogging, bird-watching or simply strolling without ever leaving the grounds.

Outside, everywhere is a visual feast and this truly is a property where one can easily spend two or three weeks simply taking in the delights of the house and garden. Many of the plane trees of this region of France have suffered from disease and it is truly uplifting to see that this is not the case here, and to be able to look at the glorious avenues made by these centuries old specimens.
