It is a great house for entertaining which is readily apparent in the lay-out and all the amenities for fantastic dinner & lunches are just waiting for an enthusiastic cook to show up!

Being just 100m away from the Ducal Palace means that everything else in this small town is a short walk away through the cobbled & often winding small streets of the medeival town center. A surprising range of shops meet the visitor where, apart from all daily needs, you will find small fashion and interior boutiques, antiques of every description, small art galleries and dotted about at convenient intervals, tea rooms and simple eating places.

The entrance from the small, cobbled street leads directly into a spacious entrance hall guarded by two antique carved figurines and showing off some the medeival stone carvings on the wall.

Sandstone is what the Pont du Gard was built from and sandstone was also the main construction material of the 'noble' houses of Uzès. This property boast some carvings, not often seen, in the walls themselves and are apparent mostly in the entrance and staircases. On the landing is seen one of the shower rooms.

The more medeival touch on the ground floor where it all began....
The double vault here houses a salon and in the inner vault the library with also has a double sofa bed and access to the tiny courtyard with a fountain. This inner room can serve as a spare bedroom as there is a wc with wash handbasin on the same level.

A casual seating corner on the mezzanine (and top floor) with has the office plus a small library and enjoys an even more stunning view of the towers than the yellow salon, just below. This is the spot for dreaming oneself back into the medeival spirit as all buildings and towers around date from this era. The internet connection is also placed here to restore the balance and cater to our current earthly needs.

A very spacious kitchen with all mod cons in a discreet fashion adjoin the dining room. You can put the screen (seen on the right) to preserve your cooking secrets from guests if need be, otherwise there is a very free circulation between salon, dining and kitchen on this floor. This is seen very clearly on the large picture below where even a small part of the mezzanine floor is visible.

The main bedroom as a double. The antique screen with it's Jouly fabric cover hides the beautiful marble wash basin placed in the corner of the room. Tall windows give out to the small, cobbled pedestrian street below. There is one full bathroom with bath and hand shower, pictured on the right, which has also a wc.

The second bedroom as a twin bedded room. This too has a marble wash basin though smaller than in the main bedroom. Seen here is one of the separate wc's with hand basin.

There are two separate shower rooms of the type the French call Italian showers meaning large without borders. One of these is rather Moroccan influenced in strong, earthy colours. and and one bathroom with a bath

On the first floor are the three bedrooms, two has double beds which can both be separated into two singles if needed.
The third has a single bed.
On the ground floor is the double sofa bed giving additional space and the property can in fact accommodate 7 persons max.
Each of the bedrooms has a marble wash hand basin.

The most magnificent of all bridges, the Pont-du-Gard!

Amazing construction from Roman times when the water from the source of l'Eure, just below Uzès, was channeled through an incredible construction of arches and tunnels up to the summit of the bridge to then descend into Nimes and the garrisons of Roman soldiers and legionnaires. These days, it is a popular place for swimming and canoeing, a wide variety of spectacles during the year and of course a never-ending stream of visitors from all corners of the world marveling at this piece of engineering which still dominates the landscape after 2000 years of existence.

Below Uzès, in the valley of the river Eure, one can follow the spring and some remnants of the conduit built by the Romans and at the same time, enjoy a cool break from the heat of summer, a pic-nic in quiet historical ground or just have a contemplative stroll viewing the Ducal city from a lower angle.
